In support of British Science Week (5-14 March), MIR presents the Straw Bridge Challenge Competition! Watch the recorded demo on the MIR YouTube Channel
This STEM-based competition is ideal for Primary and Secondary aged students. Put your creative hat on and watch an experienced Science teacher as she demonstrates how to build a paper straw bridge during the live tutorial (recorded on YouTube). No need to shop for fancy equipment, use basics found in your home.
During the session, participants are encouraged to join in and build a model paper straw bridge.
Primary School entries should build a bridge to cross 15 cm and hold the weight of a yoghurt pot
Secondary School entries should build a bridge to cross 25 cm and hold the weight of an empty tin i.e. Baked beans can.
Resources – All pupils will need 30 paper straws, cellotape and scissors
Put your abilities to the test and join in with some fun. There are some fantastic prizes to be won, so you have got to be in it to win it!

Judging panel includes representatives from AMS (Association of Muslim Schools) and MTA (Muslim Teachers Association)
