MIR was pleased to co-host a special exhibition of the Ottoman Hajj Route and Hijaz Railway, with the Yunus Emre Institute in London.
Attendees benefited from a special presentation by world renowned historian Prof. Dr Andrew Petersen, to learn more insights on the route and line that once linked Damascus to the holy city of Madinah. The Hijaz railway took just 8 years to complete the 1000 mile line, with works beginning in 1900. The railway continued to transport passengers from Damascus to Jordan up until 1992.
The exhibition remains open to public until 17th December. Visit the centre to find out more about upcoming events: https://yeelondon.org.uk/future-events/
