Muslims in Rail + Emerald Network enjoyed organising a terrific summer holiday family visit to a hidden gem in London – The Postal Museum (featuring its amazing Mail Rail experience). The event was thoroughly enjoyed by around 60 visitors in the group, mainly parents and young children.
The Mail Rail train ride takes attendees into disused Royal Mail tunnels in the heart of central London, once used to move up to 4 million parcels a day to destinations around the capital. It was a fascinating experience and ride, telling the story of its history via enchanting cinematic projected video onto platform walls. The rest of the museum exhibits iconic equipment, historical artifacts and real-life stories of early workers of one the world’s oldest and grandest postal services, which lay the foundation behind British Telecommunications.
