Last night marked the conclusion of Muslims in Rails’ multi-city ‘Discover Ramadan’ Iftar events, culminating in Birmingham.
Our Ambassadors were honoured to host members of the local community and colleagues from HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd and Network Rail at Green Lane Mosque. The evening commenced with a soul-stirring recitation from verses of Surah Baqarah, focusing on Ramadan’s significance and the observances of Muslims during this sacred month. Following this, the mosque shared insights into their impactful community engagement activities, including the distribution of £300,000 zakat to the local community last year.
Guests had the opportunity to engage in an open dialogue with the local Imam, gaining valuable insights into Islam and Ramadan, and also witnessed the Maghrib prayer, a beautiful experience of communal worship.
A heartfelt thank you to our Ambassadors Faizza Rumani and zahid shaikh for their exceptional leadership in orchestrating this memorable event.
To all our guests and railway colleagues who participated in the Discover Ramadan events this year, we extend our gratitude. We hope you found the gatherings enlightening and enriching, deepening your understanding of the holiest month in the Muslim calendar.
