Earlier this month Muslims in Rail Ambassadors distributed gift hampers to Station staff in several major stations across the UK – as a show of gratitude for their unsung public service supporting passengers getting home safely. Also, in mark of the conclusion of the month of Ramadan and subsequent Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
This year, it was also heartwarming to witness a few TOCs get more involved in supporting fasting passengers in Ramadan (such as London North Eastern Railway and Avanti West Coast). By distributing ‘Iftar’ snack packs for them to break their fast. Simple gestures like these go a long way in making the railway inclusive for everyone and improve the passenger experience. MIR were delighted to share gift hampers as a small token of appreciation to staff involved in arranging such thoughtful treats.
As we mark 200 years of the British Railways (marked by this years Railway 200 campaign), it is a proud moment when our industry embeds inclusion at its core, showing the way for the rest of the world.
We’d like to thank our Ambassadors, supporting stations and TOCs, Express Gift Service and sponsors for making this happen. In addition to Islam Channel for broadcasting the story, which you can watch here: https://lnkd.in/eUFwGDpC
