Continuing on our journey this Ramadan, Muslims in Rail were delighted to bring an introduction to diverse communities in Glasgow for our 3rd Iftar event. Offering a chance for people in our industry to experience an Ramadan Iftar meal and private tour in the prestigious Glasgow Central Mosque (Scotland’s largest Mosque).
Visitors enjoyed a private tour, special presentations, demystifying Q&A sessions, observing the congregational prayer and enjoying a hearty Iftar meal at sunset with Muslim colleagues to open their fast.
Network Rail Graduate Engineer Chukwudumeje Oddie-okeke, shared his observation of equality: “no matter who you are, when we entered the Mosque we are all equals, we sit together, we eat together… It was good to experience.”
Such occasions are ideal to build understanding and strengthen community ties. We are passionate about continuing to offer such opportunities in the future, which are growing in popularity year on year.
